About Us

Founded in 2019, The Opening Doors Project is a vibrant community charity dedicated to promoting positive mental health within families and building lasting community resilience. Guided by the World Health Organization’s definition of health as "a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being," our mission is to help people thrive—not just survive. Since its launch, the project has supported and uplifted countless individuals and families through a wide range of inclusive, accessible, and meaningful initiatives. At the heart of everything we do is a focus on reducing isolation, tackling food insecurity, and promoting healthier, more connected lifestyles.

What We Offer

Food Hub

Operating Monday to Thursday each week, our Food Hub provides a welcoming space where attendees enjoy a healthy, home-cooked two-course meal. It’s more than a meal—it’s a place to connect, share, and feel part of a supportive community.

Mindful Hub

Our Mindful Hub offers engaging, creative activities designed to support mental well-being, including diamond art, adult crafts, painting, gardening, cooking, bingo, and quizzes. These sessions foster calm, creativity, and companionship.

Play Provision & Family Hub

During school holidays, our Play Scheme and Family Hub offer fun, enriching experiences for children and families. Participants receive a nutritious breakfast and lunch, and take part in a wide range of mindful and educational activities such as interactive cooking, science workshops, planting projects, outdoor games, and even day trips.

Community Events

We host regular community events that bring people together—fun days, seasonal parties, bingo nights, community walks, litter picks, and cycling groups—all designed to foster connections, encourage active lifestyles, and build a stronger, healthier community.

Our Impact

Our work directly reduces social isolation and loneliness, addresses food insecurity, and promotes mental and physical well-being. By offering consistent, inclusive support, we help bridge the gap in health and social inequalities—creating real change where it's needed most.

Community Partnerships

We are proud to work alongside valued partners including St Nathanael's Church, Enterprise Credit Union, RAISE, ASDA, and MPAC. These partnerships strengthen our reach and enhance the services we provide.
