About Opening Doors Project

THE Opening Doors Project was formed in September 2016 and operated as a non-profit organisation until it gained charity status on July 18th 2019. The charity promotes positive mental health in families and adopts a family-centred approach to all activities. Family inclusion is important as collective memories are shared and sustained which reinforces positive mental health.

Our services and activities all aim to promote fun, happiness and interaction with the environment. Our play provision and play schemes start with a mindfulness session to focus on emotions and through this children learn about empathy and the impact their behaviour has on others.

The project has grown from strength to strength and has helped to bring back the “good old fashioned sense of community spirit”.  The ethos underpinning health is holism and we work to promote mind and body health which is sustainable.

The services are diverse and range from kid’s club, kid’s disco, mindfulness family walks, dog walk group, growing project, art and outdoors, cooking for health courses, family bingos, day trips and more.
